I have been attending NASCAR races at AMS (Atlanta Motor Speedway) since Fall 1987 when I moved to the North Metro Atlanta area. This is my home track but I live as far north of Atlanta as the track is south of Atlanta. This was supposed to be a 3-Day Show with Trucks and Xfinity qualifying on Friday. But that was rained out. There are usually driver meet & greets all three days at the track and nearby businesses.
I get to the track early on Saturday and Sunday since I have been purchasing a seat in the fan suites for about 10 years. For 2022, and this year I have been in Club One, so I get to the track prior to it opening each day. It usually opens the same time as the main grandstands. Club One is a huge suite (size of about 5 normal suites) with high ceilings. It is at the Turn 1 end of pit road and into start of Turn 1. If you buy both weekends it comes with a passing pass where you can park near the golf cart shuttle reserved specifically to take you from the parking lot to private gate next to the Club One check-in. Club One has a check-in area and elevators reserved only for Club One guests. Once inside Club One you will be greeted by staff that has been there for many years and are always available to answer any questions. There is large set of restrooms at each end of the suite.
Each day there are drivers from Trucks, Xfinity, or Cup that come up for 15min Q&A sessions and usually have time to sign a hero card or a quick pic. No, the superstars are not usually there but everyone I have seen over the past two years has been outstanding. There is also stairs to take you the roof which is amazing unless you do not like heights. There is also a table with some great silent auction items to support the Speedway Children’s Charity. These items are specifically for Club One attendees to bid.
On Sunday at check-in, you get a “Track Pass”. It allows to Stage Front for the pre-race concert and driver intros but not in the pits or garage. The upscale food in Club One is generally very good but there are exceptions due to my picky tastes. There is an all day Hot Dog Bar which is my favorite. You will not go hungry in the suite on the Gold and Platinum packages. I did not go into the Fan Zone this year because of how cold it was but they are usually games, giveaways, souvenir haulers, driver Q&A’s, local bands throughout the day. On Saturday night there is usually parties and a concert in the infield of the track.
As for the action on the track, I am not the biggest fan of pack racing but still go to watch my drivers race. Sunday, the last half of Stage 3 was exciting with the Brad (Keselowski) and Joey (Logano) show plus (Christopher) Bell. Star of the weekend was Josh Williams.
